Since 2007, the National Human Trafficking Hotline has identified thousands of cases of human trafficking in Indiana. These cases have resulted in 2,344 identified victims. In general, human trafficking, whether in the form of sex trafficking or labor trafficking, is the business of stealing someone else’s freedom for their own profit. This multi-billion dollar criminal industry denies freedom to 24.9 million people around the world.

Anyone can experience trafficking in any community, just as anyone can be the victim of any kind of crime. Oftentimes, these victims may not even be aware to the extent of this abuse.

Our goal at Stepping Stone Shelter, Inc., is to provide trauma-informed awareness to our community through outreach and education to help combat this form of modern-day slavery. Our trauma-informed, highly trained staff works alongside law enforcement and other local and state agencies to help educate, inform, and reach out to those in need or identify other individuals or agencies willing to help.

If you have questions or need help reach out to Stepping Stone at 219-879-4615.  We can help you.
